Sometimes We Dream Of Life Outside The Cocoon
By Lila Brooks
We live in the cocoon
Its walls protect us
It nourishes us
It keeps us safe from what may lie outside
Sometimes we dream
Of life outside the cocoon
Sometimes, the dreams are wonderful
Other times, they terrify
But without the experience
Who can understand what lies without?
Sometimes, we feel trapped and stifled
We make an effort to break out
Sometimes, we feel threatened
We make the cocoon stronger
Both a protection and a prison
But something we have known
All our lives
The cocoon is a peaceful place
An easy life
But only those
Who have freed themselves
From the cocoon
Knows how it feels...
